Digital Medicine and E-Health
- Short description
-
With an increasing digitalisation of personal data, new methods for analysis and treatment are opening up in medicine, offering a fast and coherent profile of the patient. E-Health, a system based on electronic data processing, will lead to a comprehensive network of different points of contact, e.g. emergency services, physicians, hospital, care home, pharmacy, and health insurance provider, thereby improving patient care. The scientists of the “Biomedical Informatics and E-Health” Campus Research Focus are researching, reshaping and establishing new concepts in the field of e-health. One focus is on identifying new forms of patient care with the use of information and communication technologies. All the functional chains of E-Health processes are being analysed and solutions to problems are being sought interactively with partners in health care. Exploring innovative instruments for the analysis, use and application of big data in the health sector will lead to systems biological modelling capable of fusing the most diverse data and generating new models for the widest range of research facilities. This opens up possibilities of application in a multitude of research areas (e.g. economics, medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics) and creates further opportunities for cooperation between other Campus Research Foci and further Profile Areas.
