If you have ever asked yourself these questions, come to the event „Wege in die Promotion“ (Paths to a Doctorate), which is organised by the Giessen Graduate Centre for Humanities (GGK), the International Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences (GGL), the Giessen Graduate Centre for Social Sciences, Business, Economics and Law (GGS), the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), the initiative Arbeiterkind.de and the Research Campus of Central Hessen. Admission to this event is free of charge to anyone interested in participating.
Please note that the language of the event is German.
The event will take place on 27 June 2019 from 1 pm – 4:15 pm in the auditorium of the main university building of the JLU (Ludwigstrasse 23, Giessen).
During the event, the graduate centres provide information on the prerequisites for pursuing a doctorate, funding and support for doctoral candidates at the JLU. The Reserach Campus will give insight into the cooperative doctorate via the Research Campus' Doctoral Platform and the Graduate Centre for Engineering Sciences. In addition, several doctoral candidates will talk about their experiences and answer your questions. After the information part, you can talk to representatives of the graduate centres, the Reserach Campus and the initiative ArbeiterKind.de and ask individual questions.
- 1 p.m. Address of welcome, lecture about questions concerning dissertations; introduction of the Research Campus and of ArbeiterKind.de
- 2 p.m. Reports on the experiences of current doctoral students
- 2.30 p.m. Short break and change of rooms (rooms will be allocated according to the number of participants per centre)
- 2.45 p.m. The graduate centres present themselves and their instruments of support for doctoral students
- 3.30 p.m. Info-lounge in the auditorium’s foyer
