In this online informational event, you will have the opportunity to obtain in-depth information on the topic of acquiring third-party funding.

Subtopics: Research Data Management

About

Successful careers in academia are almost inseparably linked to the successful acquisition of third-party funding. Finding, applying for, and being given the "right" type of grant can be a tremendous boon to any researcher's career. But how does one navigate the sprawling landscape of academic funding? How does one determine which programme is suitable for the current or next step in their career?

To answer these questions — and related ones — we are hosting a digital informational event on June 24, 2026 from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm.

1. In the first part, representatives of the DFG-Stiftung will present their institution and research funding offers and provide insights into how you can successfully acquire funding for your own postdoc research project.

2. The second part of the event is a panel discussion "Making Effective Use of Research Data Management in Projects and Proposals: Challenges and Opportunities." The Importance of Data Managment in Research Projects and Proposals“ with the representatives of the funding institutions addressing questions from the audience.

We will ask how postdocs can get explorative studies or high risk research to be funded.

Since research data management becomes increasingly relevant for scientists, we will also address the questions of how data management should be included in the research proposal.

Our panellists offer their varied perspectives as representatives of foundations, grantees, researchers, and university administrators to create a fruitful discussion about do's and don'ts of succesful grant writing. With a focus on inclusion, diversity, and sustainability, we seek to address aspects that are becoming ever more important to consider in successful grant applications — across all scientific disciplines.
