Dissertation

Your dissertation must

  1. represent progress in scientific findings as a result of your independent research
  2. observe the fundamental methodical rules for the subject in which your topic is located
  3. contain documentation corresponding to the scientific working principles on the material you have evaluated and pertinent literature you have consulted
  4. be written in the German or English language
  5. include a summary (abstract) in the German and the English language of not more than one DIN A4 in length indicating the purpose of the publication.

Cumulative dissertations are permissible:

You may apply to the doctoral committee for recognition of several separate pieces of written work (papers) (also already published in part or in entirety) if

  1. you are the first author in at least two of the papers (shared first authorship will be calculated by percentage)
  2. the papers show the processing of a topic step by step
  3. the papers have been published in their entirety or for the major part, or at least two papers have been accepted for publication by peer-reviewed international scientific journals
  4. the papers have been written recently and on a pertinent subject
  5. the papers correspond to the above-mentioned fundamental requirements
  6. the papers have been written completely in English or in German.
