Do you have a degree from THM or another university of applied sciences and would like to pursue an interdisciplinary doctoral degree with supervisors from different universities? The Cooperative Doctoral Platform makes this possible—across institutions and with the highest quality standards. Numerous disciplines are open to you here, from chemistry to economics, from computer science to pharmacy. You will benefit from the combined expertise of all three partner universities.

Subject Areas and Doctoral Degrees

Cooperative doctoral studies at the FCMH are possible if your research project fits thematically into the subject spectrum of JLU or UMR and corresponds to the areas of expertise at THM. The following doctoral degrees are possible within the framework of the Cooperative Doctoral Platform:

questions about the application and exposé, clarification of organizational processes and in challenging situations, as well as access to academic and non-academic qualification opportunities at all three universities.

Application Documents

Please submit the following documents:

  • Application for Admission as a doctoral candidate (see download section)
  • Officially certified copies of your Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma certificates and degree documents (with officially certified translations into German or English, if applicable)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a photo
  • If available: Certificates of other academic or state examinations you have passed or failed
  • List of scientific publications you have already released
  • A research proposal (exposé) for your doctoral project, signed by all supervisors, including working title, resource and work plan, (the topic should be designed so that the dissertation can typically be completed within three years.)
  • Letters of supervision consent from all supervisors (two, maximum three, see download section)
  • If your previous degree is not in a related discipline (outside engineering, life sciences, or natural sciences): Proof of relevant subject knowledge, if available
  • For international applicants: Confirmation of sufficient German or English language proficiency from your supervisor (if you do not hold a German university degree)

Depending on your department, additional documents may be required.
