H_CORE

Hessian Collaboration for Research Excellence

Justus Liebig University Giessen and Marburg University have jointly submitted the application ‘H_CORE – Hessian Collaboration for Research Excellence’ for the second round of the Excellence Universities funding line. The aim is to further expand research excellence, talent development and knowledge transfer in a strong alliance in Central Hessen.

The application is based on the long-standing collaboration between the two universities and the THM University of Applied Sciences, which is involved in the project as an associate partner, at the Research campus of Central Hessen. The University Hospital of Giessen-Marburg and four non-university research institutions are also supporting the project.

H_CORE stands on a strong foundation, which we are building upon in our joint application for funding as a University of Excellence. With four Clusters of Excellence, the universities of Giessen and Marburg have proven that research excellence with renowned partners is not tied to large cities or metropolitan regions.

We have an excellent research environment in Central Hessen. The strategic orientation of our cutting-edge research, together with Justus Liebig University Giessen, has led us to success in the first funding line of the Excellence Strategy. We are using this momentum as an incentive to bundle our internationally renowned research into an innovative project and to compete together for the title of University of Excellence.
